Who is Eligible?
  • Dr. Dynasaur is for Vermont children up to age 18 and pregnant women.
  • Children up to age 18 and pregnant women whose family income is below the maximum income limit. The maximum income limit is determined by family size (the people living with you who are related). See below for details on income eligibility.
  • You can be employed or have other health insurance and still be eligible for Dr. Dynasaur.
  • You can still apply for Dr. Dynasaur even if you are not a U.S. citizen. Click here for more information.

How much does Dr. Dynasaur cost?

Some, but not all, families pay monthly premiums for Dr. Dynasaur coverage. There are no other fees for Dr. Dynasaur. There are no co-payments or deductibles.

For children the monthly premiums per family range from 0 to $60 month. Income maximums:

Family of 2 $3,630 month
Family of 3 $4,565 month
Family of 4 $5,502month

For pregnant women the monthly premium is $15 per month. Income maximums are:

Family of 1 $1,797 month
Family of 2 $2,420 month
Family of 3 $3,044 month
Family of 4 $3,667 month


What does Dr. Dynasaur cover?

Dr. Dynasaur is very comprehensive and covers most services that children need. It covers doctor visits for primary care and specialty care, hospitalization, prescription drugs, mental health and substance abuse services, dental care, chiropractic and naturopathic care and eyeglasses. For pregnant women, Dr. Dynasaur does not cover eyeglasses and it covers some dental care. For those who have other insurance, Dr. Dynasaur can act as a secondary coverage and cover services that the primary insurance does not.


Who takes Dr. Dynasaur?

Most doctors take Dr. Dynasaur, but always ask before making an appointment.


How do I apply?

You can apply anytime during the month and will begin receiving health care coverage as soon as your application is deemed complete by the State of Vermont.

Where Do I show proof of Citizenship and Identity?

At one of the Economic Services Division District Offices, listed below. Most common forms of C&I is a birth certificate and Driver's License or a Current or expired passport.
