We accept most major insurance carriers including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont, MVP Health Care, Cigna, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, and TRICARE. We are also an enrolled provider with Medicare, Vermont Medicaid, and DVHA Green Mountain Care. For patients without insurance or with high-deductible plans, our sliding-scale fee schedule provides tiered discounts of 15% to 75% based on household income and family size relative to the Federal Poverty Level. Our billing specialists can help determine your eligibility and assist with enrollment in state programs if applicable.
Your initial appointment at Catamount Health typically lasts 60 to 90 minutes. You will complete a brief registration with our front desk staff, then meet with a medical assistant for vital signs and preliminary health history documentation. Your assigned provider will conduct a comprehensive health assessment, review medications and allergies, discuss your primary concerns, and begin developing a personalized care plan. We encourage you to bring photo identification, insurance cards, a current medication list, and any recent lab results or specialist reports. Arriving 15 minutes early ensures your clinical time is fully available.
Yes. Our Behavioral Health Department is staffed by licensed clinical social workers (LCSW), licensed professional counselors (LPC), and a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. We offer individual therapy for depression, anxiety, PTSD, grief, and adjustment disorders. Group therapy options include Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy skills groups, and a substance use disorder recovery support group. Behavioral health intake appointments are 75 minutes. We use validated screening instruments including the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 for ongoing outcome measurement and treatment planning.
Catamount Health offers HIPAA-compliant telehealth visits for many service types including follow-up primary care consultations, behavioral health therapy sessions, nutrition counseling, and chronic disease management check-ins. Telehealth is available Monday through Friday and is billed at a reduced rate compared to in-person visits. Patients access telehealth through a secure, browser-based video platform that requires no software download. To determine whether your clinical needs can be appropriately addressed via telehealth, contact our scheduling team at (802) 555-0147 when requesting your appointment.
Our primary care providers and psychiatric nurse practitioner can prescribe, renew, and manage most medications as part of your ongoing care plan. We maintain electronic prescribing connectivity with all major Vermont pharmacies for efficient prescription processing. For controlled substances, we follow Vermont Board of Medical Practice prescribing guidelines and utilize the Vermont Prescription Monitoring System. Medication management visits are typically 20 to 30 minutes and can often be conducted via telehealth for established patients with stable medication regimens. We also coordinate with specialty pharmacies for complex medication needs.
Our Chronic Disease Management program provides structured, evidence-based care coordination for patients with type 2 diabetes, hypertension, COPD, heart failure, and other long-term conditions. Each patient receives an individualized care plan developed collaboratively between their primary care provider, care coordinator, and relevant specialists. Services include regular clinical monitoring, medication optimization, self-management education (including our accredited Diabetes Self-Management Education program), home blood pressure and glucose monitoring support, and telehealth check-ins between office visits. Our Heart-Healthy Living and Pulmonary Wellness workshop series complement clinical care with practical lifestyle skills.
Yes. Our Maternal Wellness Program offers comprehensive prenatal care from confirmation of pregnancy through the postpartum period. Services include routine prenatal examinations, gestational diabetes and preeclampsia screening, nutrition counseling with a registered dietitian experienced in prenatal and postpartum dietary needs, and behavioral health support for perinatal mood disorders. We coordinate closely with the obstetrics departments at Central Vermont Medical Center and UVM Medical Center for delivery planning and any high-risk pregnancy management. Postpartum visits include lactation support resources and infant developmental guidance.

We also run recurring multi-week programs such as the Move More Vermont community walking group (Tuesdays and Thursdays), a Cooking for Wellness series in partnership with local farms, and our annual community health fair each September featuring free biometric screenings, flu vaccinations, and resource navigation. Catamount Health office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday, 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. After hours, our phone system provides a nurse triage line staffed by registered nurses who can assess your symptoms, provide evidence-based self-care guidance, and determine whether your situation requires urgent care or emergency department evaluation. For true medical emergencies, always call 911 or proceed to the nearest emergency department. Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin is the closest hospital-based emergency facility, located approximately 4 miles from our Montpelier office.
