Zero Third-Party Data Selling Guarantee: Catamount Health will never sell, rent, lease, or trade your personal health information or any identifying data to third parties for marketing, advertising, data brokerage, or any commercial purpose. This guarantee applies to all patient data, financial records, and demographic information collected in the course of providing care.
How We Use and Disclose Your Health Information
The following categories describe the ways in which we may use and disclose your PHI without your specific written authorization, as permitted by HIPAA:

This includes sharing relevant clinical information with other healthcare providers involved in your care, such as specialists, laboratories, pharmacies, and hospitals, to ensure continuity and quality of treatment.
- Payment: We may use and disclose your PHI to bill and receive payment for services provided. This includes submitting claims to your health insurance plan, verifying eligibility and coverage, obtaining prior authorizations, and coordinating benefits between multiple payers.
- Healthcare Operations: We may use your information for operational purposes including quality improvement activities, compliance audits, staff training and credentialing, patient satisfaction surveys, and accreditation processes (such as NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home certification).
- Public Health Activities: As required by law, we may disclose PHI to public health authorities for purposes of disease surveillance, vital statistics reporting, and communicable disease control, in accordance with Vermont Department of Health reporting requirements.
- Health Oversight Activities: We may disclose PHI to health oversight agencies, such as the Vermont Department of Health and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), for audits, investigations, inspections, and licensure activities authorized by law.
- Judicial and Administrative Proceedings: We may disclose PHI in response to a valid court order, subpoena, or other lawful process, subject to the protections and limitations established by HIPAA and Vermont law.
- Law Enforcement: In limited circumstances, we may disclose PHI to law enforcement officials as required by law, such as reporting certain injuries, wounds, or suspected criminal activity on our premises.
- Disaster Relief: We may share PHI with authorized disaster relief organizations to coordinate notification of family members or others involved in your care during emergency situations.
